Youth and Family Hub Relocation Building Project
In 2022, we completed a Community Based Needs Assessment, which identified a need in Albany for a Youth Hub, family parenting services, free family activities, and opportunities for people to connect.
In response to this assessment, we now provide a badminton club, parenting courses with Parenting Place, a parent counselling service (Triple P Parenting), a Youth Hang Out, and a parent coffee group in partnership with Plunket. We are also part of establishing an Albany Youth Eco-System.
As a result of the needs identified and the mahi we do, ACAT was gifted a building in early 2025, however it was unfortunately demolished before we were able to relocate it. We have purchased a relocatable building as the need for such a space remained. The Youth and Family Hub Project Team is overseeing the relocation of the building so it can be used to serve youth and families in Albany.
The building will be available for community use and will help empower youth and families to thrive.
Thanks to the Upper Harbour Local Board Facilities Grant, we were able to complete a feasibility study that shows this project is achievable and will benefit families and young people in Albany.
